Hi, I'm Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
Since 2001 there's been an event in Auckland called New Zealand Fashion Week. Apparently there are fashion weeks all over the world.
And in Wikipedia it says that fashion week is a fashion industry event which: allows fashion designers, brands or "houses" to display their latest collections in runway shows and buyers to take a look at the latest trends. Most importantly, it lets the industry know what's "in" and what's "out" for the season.
So in Question Time this week we're going to be asking people in the street about fashion. We'll ask them what they're wearing and why.
And today I thought I'd tell you a bit about what I wear on The Daily English Show for Stick News. I might have talked about this before, but I can't remember when.

I bought this hat, or beanie, in France at the end of 1994 or it might have been the beginning '95. I went to France for two months when I was studying French at high school. And I stayed with this wonderful family over there and they took me to lots of amazing places, including Paris. And I think I bought this in Paris.
And since then this beanie has been on many interesting adventures. I almost lost it a few times too. One time I remember was in Christchurch in '99. And we drove back to where I thought it might be and it was there lying there on the road ... and I was very happy I didn't lose it.
As for the jacket, I got this in Thailand in 2002. I was there on holiday when I was between jobs in Japan and I was in Bangkok and there were lots of shops selling tailor-made suits and I got caught up in the moment and thought, "Maybe I need a suit." It turns out that I didn't ... and I only wore it about twice. But in 2006 I found a good use for the jacket.

Hana: What happens during fashion week in New Zealand?
Sarah: Not a lot I think unless you're part of the industry.
Hana: What do you mean by the industry?
Sarah: I mean, for example, if you own a clothing store you might go to a show or meet a designer to decide what clothes you're going to buy for your shop.
Hana: Oh, I see. So they don't have any events for the general public?
Sarah: There might be a few, but mostly it's just for industry I think.
