Topic 4 ( Writing B): Similarities and differences between fast food and home cooked meals
Nowadays, life is busier and busier. Many people don't have lots of time to cook, so fast food is usually their best choice for breakfast or lunch. However, there are a lot of people still spend much time to make home cooked meals for their family. Although there are a lot of differences between fast food and home cooked meals, they are still alike in some aspects.
There are some great differences between fast food and home cooked meals. The first important difference is saving time. If we don't have time to prepare breakfast or lunch, fast food is a good choice. We just buy and eat! There are many kinds of fast foods such as break, hamburger, sandwich, pizza. We have not to buy foods and spend time in cooking. In contrast, making a home cooked meal needs a lot of time. We have to go to market to buy foods and cook. It takes us a great deal of time. The second great difference is nutrition. Fast food usually has a lot of fat and calories, especially hamburger and pizza. Therefore, we are easy gaining (putting on) weight and getting some heart diseases. In addition, it is usually unsanitary. On the other hand, home cooked meal is more nutritious. Because it is cooked at home and combined many kinds of foods, they are sanitary and have fully nutrients. However, it is not right completely at all times! The third difference is the way to "use" it. Fast food is usually sold on stand food on streets, customers usually eat at there or take it away. In contrast, home cooked meal is often set on a big table, and then all members of family sit around and eat together. That thing not only brings a happy and warm atmosphere, but also is a typical custom of Vietnamese.
Besides different aspects, fast food and home cooked meals have a few basic similarities. The first similarity is variety in food. Nowaday, there are many kinds of fast food are inported into Vietnames, so fast food is very veriety. Likewise, there are many kinds of home cooked meals. The creativity in cooking is unlimited.Second, both fast food and home cooked meals are food that provides nutrients and energy for people to live. Home cooked meals contain many necessary nutrients such as vitamins, proteins, fat just as fast food. However, we should not eat the same thing (fast food or home cooked ) meals for a long day. That is not good for health. We should combine variety in food to have fully nutrients.
In conclusion, we can see there are many differences between fast food and home cooked meals. However, considering other aspects, they are still alike. Even though fast food is so delicious and convenience, I still prefer to eat at home because family meal is my happy hours. That is the time my family can share anything together after a long day. Besides, family meal is also a typical custom of Vietnamese and I am happy because my family still keep it !
