ALL - Cleft & WH - Cleft
Dùng câu chẻ khi muốn nhấn mạnh một điều gì đó; hoặc muốn người nghe tập trung vào một vấn đề đang nói đến.
Dùng đại từ "all" với nghĩa "the only thing" (việc/điều/vấn đề/cái... duy nhất) theo cấu trúc:
All + I want/need... (to do/for sth) + be + subject complement
=> used for saying that there is nothing more except what you are mentioning
=> Điều/Việc duy nhất tôi muốn/cần/có thể làm là...
All I want to read is this book.
(= This book is all I want to read.)
All I want for Christmas is you.
All I want (to do) is (to) read this book/make someone happy.
All I want is (to) be left alone/go home.
All you had to do was (to) buy a card.
All you have to do is (to) make a comment.
All the boy needs to do is (to) say things politely.
All we have to do is (to) use the time given to us.
All you have to do is (to) brush properly and floss religiously.

Câu chẻ còn có thể bắt đầu bằng các cụm "The reason why, the thing that, the place where, the person who... + clause + be + (to) do sth".

I think what we believe will happen in the future.
I think what you need is a good meal/a good long holiday.
You did what you thought was right at the time.
Lưu ý:
* If we want to emphasise an action, the verb after be usually takes the form that corresponds to the form used in the what-clause = nếu muốn nhấn mạnh một hành động, thì động từ sau "be" cùng dạng với dạng của động từ trong mệnh đề "what".
What you should do is write a letter to the manager.
What I need to do is get some rest.
What they were doing was arguing about which train to take.
What I can do is call for a taxi.
All I do is drink coffee.
All we can do is sit and wait (=we cannot do anything more).
All we can do now is wait and hope.
* In the following examples, the verb after be takes the form that the verb in the what-clause is normally followed by: Trong các ví dụ tiếp theo, động từ sau "be" có hình thức phụ thuộc cách dùng bình thường của động từ trong mệnh đề "what" (nghĩa là theo sau động từ đứng trước "be" là "infinitive" hay là "V-ing".
What I want is to sleep.
What he can't stand is getting up early.
