MYSELF & BY MYSELF
She did it herself. She was responsible for whatever she did.
She did it by herself. Whatever she did, she did it alone. => That was not her choice.
A. myself:
1. referring to yourself and not to anyone else => đề cập đến bản thân bạn, chính bạn chứ không phải người nào khác.
I myself was once a prisoner. = I was once a prisoner myself.
Chính tôi đã một lần là tù nhân.
I myself don't like a heavy meal at lunchtime.= I don't like a heavy meal at lunchtime myself.
Bản thân tôi không thích ăn nhiều vào bữa trưa.
2. without help from anyone else, but you were responsible for whatever you did => không có sự giúp đỡ của người khác, nhưng bạn tự chịu trách nhiệm về bất cứ những gì mà bạn đã làm.
I arranged everything myself.
I've bought myself a new coat.
I bought myself a car.
I myself started the company.
Tired of waiting, I just did it myself.
I cut myself on a knife.
B. by myself:
1. with no one else present; alone: một mình
I sat at the table by myself.
Tôi ngồi ở bàn một mình.
I will be at home by myself tonight.
Tối nay tôi sẽ ở nhà một mình.
I like to spend a little time by myself at weekends.
Tôi thích dành thời gian một mình vào những ngày cuối tuần.
I live by myself.

2. without the help of anyone else, and that it wasn't your choice => không có sự giúp đỡ của ai, và đó không phải là sự lựa chọn của bạn.
Can you eat that whole pie by yourself?
I had to do the whole job all by myself.

Could you help with the preparations? I can't do it by myself.
