PLAY - DO - GO + SPORTS
We use the verbs play, do and go with sports and activities.
Chúng ta dùng các động từ PLAY - DO - GO với các hoạt động và các môn thể thao.
Khi hỏi ai chơi môn thể thao gì: "What sports do you do?" -> I play tennis.
-> I do judo.
Dùng "play - do - go" với từng môn thể thao thích hợp để trả lời.
1. PLAY: is generally used with team sports and those sports that need a ball or similar object (puck, disc, shuttlecock...). Also, those activities in which two people or teams compete against each other:
Nói chung "PLAY" được dùng với các môn thể thao đồng đội có sử dụng banh hoặc các thứ khác như "puck" (bóng chơi trên băng), disc (đĩa), shuttlecock (cầu)...
Who wants to play soccer with me? -> a ball sport
How often do you play tennis?' - tennis is a ball sport.
I play poker with my friends on Friday night.' - poker is a competitive game. We play to win.
I don't like playing computer games.' - again, computer games are competitive so we use play.

2. DO is used with recreational activities and with individual, non-team sports or sports in which a ball is not used, like martial arts:
"DO" được dùng đối với các hoạt động có tính tiêu khiển và các môn thể thao cá nhân, không đồng đội, hoặc các môn thể thao không dùng banh như các môn võ.
I usually do sport every evening.
'I heard that you do karate.' -> karate is a non-team activity.
'I do crossword puzzles in my free time.' -> crossword puzzles are not competitive.
I find doing yoga to be very relaxing.
My son can do Judo.
Mike Tyson used to do boxing.
She's doing a 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle.

3. GO: Go is used with activities that end -ing. We go somewhere to do something:
"GO" được dùng với các hoạt động tận cùng là "-ing". Chúng ta đi đâu đó để làm việc gì:
'I'm going fishing on Sunday.'
'Are you going skiing this winter?'
'She said she was going swimming.'
Do you quant to go hiking with me?
